Coach Spotlght -Kate Wozencroft Coventry

Why did you train to be a STILLL Coach?

As a primary school teacher and mental health lead I was encountering more and more children struggling with a variety of emotional and behaviours needs brought on by anxiety. I had also experienced my own son struggling with anxiety and wanted to be better equipped to help him and others.

I initially did the parent/ teacher course and spent most of the session nodding my head and agreeing with all that Stuart was saying. I immediately saw how important, yet straightforward the STILL method was and how so many children, teens and adults would benefit from completing the 6 week programme.

Tell us a bit more about yourself,

Hi, I'm Kate Wozencroft, anxiety coach, educator and wild swimmer. I have an amazing son ( I know I am biased) who has recently gone off to university and a large extended family, me being the youngest of 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

I have been a primary school teacher for 27 years and have worked in a variety of settings in the UK and Kenya. I can now see I have struggled with mental health for most of my life but felt it had to be bottled up and kept a secret, which in hindsight is never good!

I have always been sporty, getting to a high standard as a swimmer in my teens. I took up wild swimming pre-COVID but it totally saved me during lockdown and I haven't been in an indoor pool since! I love travel and have visited many countries, I have many experiences from my time living in Kenya- encounters with hippos, elephants and spiders, fortunately not all at the same time!

I also love to craft and be creative, from paper, lino, cement, fabric- so many projects so little time, along with a bit of DIY and gardening.

Mental health and wellbeing has become my passion in recent years and since leaving teaching I have thrown all my energies into spreading the STILL method word, mainly to schools but I am now moving into the corporate world.

I love dogs and had a lovely, fluffy furboy rescue called Boots for many years- he has sadly passed away and now I dog-sit for friends and family to get my share of long walks and cuddles.
