Coach Spotlight - Amanda Mikalauskas

Why did you train to be a STILL Method Coach

During lockdown, I came across an advert for an introduction to the STILL Method approach for parents and teachers who were looking to support children with anxiety. I was a teacher and acutely aware of the high levels of anxiety in the Year 6 children that I taught so I signed up with every intention of bringing what I had learnt into school when we went back to 'normal'. That day changed my life! I had been suffering myself from increasing anxiety that was holding me back and stopping me from achieving my goals. Stuart showed me how to regain control and it felt good. I wanted to empower others in the same way that Stuart had empowered me- I was full of excitement and optimism. So, I trained as a coach for adults and children; supported pupils in my own school-then left teaching and started my own coaching business with a good friend and colleague. The rest, as they say, is history!

Tell us a bit about yourself

My perfect place to relax though will always be by the sea and the sight and sound of water, in whatever form, is my happy place. I meditate regularly and am always on a quest for self improvement and spiritual development.

When I took early retirement from teaching to set up Vici Coaching with my friend Karen, I knew that I still needed to keep busy in between coaching sessions. I became a Tropic Skincare ambassador. Why? Well, Tropic's mission statement is for a healthier, greener and more empowered world! How well does that fit with my own principles? I spread the word about organic, cruelty-free skincare whilst raising money for charities such as United World Schools and push myself out of my comfort zone regularly. Not only that, as I knew that I would miss the social interaction that my last job demanded, I found myself a little job at a new zero waste shop, Green Grams. It's only a few days a month but what interesting people I meet, all on a quest to reduce plastic waste and protect our planet's future whilst enjoying locally roasted coffee and cake.

So that is just a little bit of what I'm about: passionate about empowering myself and others; grateful for my friends and family and loving life! It's a pleasure to meet you
